hey everybody,
im a new member but ive been reading this board for a couple months now just learning lots. I own a 2008 fat bob and its my first harley so like i said im learning alot from this forum.
My bike is stock for now and i have only ridden it for a couple months cause its quite cold and snowy here in the winter.
I recently bought a S.E.R.T and an arlen ness big sucker wich I am excited to get onto the bike.
I havea couple questions about the air cleaner that i thought some of you guys might be able to help me with. i had 2 options when i got it. it was either the billet one with a crome plate on the front or one with an aluminum bacling and no front plate. i am actually trying to get rid of all the chrome on my bike so i got the one without the front piece. i know that the stock football looking cover will fit over it but i would like to find a black one or a brushed aluminum circle one so you can still see the filter. does anyone have any links to places that would sell a part like that?
also when i bought the intake and SERT i was going to buy my pipe at the same time but the dealer wanted alto of money for it. Im looking to get a black thunderheader and the dealership wanted just over 1000$ for it. i looked on thunderheader.net and they are a bit cheaper but if any of you know somewhere who sells thunderheader parts that might be cheaper than that it would be great to know as well. i saw some pretty used ones on ebay but i figure its a brand new bike i might as well get a nice new pipe.
thanks for your help in advance
i look forward to being a member of this forum as it seems to be a great resource for a harley rider.
Not sure about where to buy the exhaust, but let me know what you think about the new air cleaner and sert. I also have a Fat Bob, but I'm probably going to buy K&N Air Cleaner with the Power Commander III USB. I leave also in Canada (Thunder Bay), but still lots of time before I start riding (it's -20 with snow on the ground).
Consider buying some pipes that are un-blackened for a cheaper $ amount then scuff everything up and get it powder coated? It may chip here and there if you're a rough rider, but should handle the salted roads just fine and save you a bit of $.
Welcome to the forums and congrats to both of you on the new Fat Bobs. Good looking rides. Post pics
Hello from northern Alberta....spring is on the way.....have you tried J&P Cycles? They list black thunderheaders in their catalog for $640us, chrome is cheaper...Dennis Kirk is another online store I've had good luck with.
Howdy and Welcome from Michigan.
I'd try J&P Cycles or Eastern Performance(they're a sponsor here) for the exhaust.
As for th eAC(air cleaner) mod you're talking about, there is a forum member, Mudpuddle who can modify your cover to just cover the top, leaving the sides exposed for the look you want, assuming I understand what you're talking about.
Spring is coming, been too long since I grabbed the handle bars on anything except the snow thrower
