Wide Glide????
I have a 1996 FXDL and would love to convert it to a wide glide but I would like to go with 41 mm fork tubes yet retain my dual disc set up. Does anyone out there know of any companies that would do such a thing or am I shooting in the dark. I have looked all over ebay and other parts websites and everyone seems to say single disc only.

I havent done it, but dont see why you couldnt... I accidently changed my lowers from '94-'00 model lowers.. Kinda a long story, but it was a shipping accident... Either way, I now have '00 lowers on my '94 with '00 front caliper(4 piston)... Worked out great. My point is, the lowers shouldnt care if they are in a narrow glide or wide glide tree. The only issue I can see is that you would have to custom make the axle spacers, really no big deal either.. Good luck and post some pics.. I'm sure someone here has done it and can help more, but I'd go for it..

OK, so I thought about it a little more. You will need to replace your wheel or hub in order to place the R/H rotor in the right spot. There may be shims available for that... All in all, I still believe it can be done, just depends on how hard you want to try..

Does your 96 use 41mm fork tubes? If so, you just need to get a front end from a wide glide (mine is a 2000 and uses 41mm) and use your lowers and wheel. You'll probably want to use the wide glide fender unless you want to buy a custom one and cut/drill/paint it to your liking.
