Tried the battery operated ones. Junk. They provide a tiny bit of warmth in the palm. The back side is where you need the heat. I got lucky and bought a used set of Gerbing gloves from a member here. I live in Michigan, and let me tell you they rock! They heat from the back side and will actually cook your hands. They have a lifetime warranty.
Consider it a one time investment.
you must be in Spokane area! I am North Idaho and rode in 25 degrees yesterday AM Found some non electric insulated leather gauntlet gloves last week in CDA, that seem to keep me toasty. They are the exact same gloves HD wants 120. for, found them without the logo for 48.00 .
I have tried them all over the last 15 yrs and found two viable options: heated grips are great ( no wires ect. ) and the heated gloves are awesome. I have the Gerbing gloves, jacket liner and socks. There is nothing better. I ride year round for my job and have used this combination, which all plugs together with a dual range thermostat, in 10 degree weather with no complaints. Definately worth the money
I just installed the heat demon grips from symtec (sp) and I havent got a chance to try them due to the fact that I am missing a front wheel but the grips got up to 120* in the shop so I guess they would work well with some thin fall gloves. The wiring and the switch are the best!
