The Ole lady's scoot 03 Low Rider has a little over 40K miles. Last September, her rotor needed to be replaced. Unfortunately, since we live up in Chicago, we didn't get much riding time in after that, and spring just sprung in our area. So with less than 1000 miles on the new rotor, we're on the road last week, and her bikes starts grinding again. Took it back to the Stealer, and we find out today, that her rotor went out again. What in the heck is going on with the quality of Harley's Rotors ?? Anyone else having this problem ??
i would imagine it would be your pads... i am in chicago as well... my dad brought his bike into chicago HD to get his easy clutch installed... they asked if he wanted new pads as well, 100 bucks, why not... then they come around the corner with this old chewed up rotor and said it was his... needs to be replaced... you would think the idiots would at least have noticed that i polished his rotors!!! i was beyond mad!!! how do places try and rip you off like that! we put on Lyndall Gold pads on all our bikes... have not had any problems since... the only other issue i can see causing this is the bolts that hold the rotor are not torqed to spec... this can cause an VERY slight wobble and cause the rotor to chew up... I have been riding for years in the chicago land area, my uncle is in the fox valley hog club, and i have never heard of constant rotor problems... i would start with the cheap and easy... check the bolts and replace the pads... see where to go from there... when it comes to brakes you do not want to mess around... i have heard of people that rest their toe on thier brake lever burning though pads without knowing... may want to watch that as well... where in chicago? we should hook up for a cruise
That he does.......and just for the reason which he described, in addition to them having weak wristed wrenches.....I won't have any work done by them.
ah man you are right by me!!! i am right off 90 and roselle... right past 53 and the mall...we should def hook up for a cruise this summer... my brothers sporty had some startor problems but we tossed a new one on and he was good to go... not to sure how to help you on that one brother. sorry
Hell yeah we'll hook up.......we normally run 90 outta town.....get off at 47, and then back road it. Favorite ride is running out to Savanna, or just across the river to Bellevue Iowa.
Believe it or not, I try to avoid Galena like the plague. Even though riding thru that area is nice, those cagers who are visiting, just tick me off. If we're running up the river going up into Wisconsin, we stay on the Iowa side until Dubuque, where we'll cross back over.
I wouldn't know about Micbrews, I haven't had a beer in a little over 40 years...kinda lost the taste for it over in Nam. That doesn't mean I would turn down a little Jack and Coke, or sip a Gentlemen's Jack with some friends.
Man i am in it!!! let me know when you want to get together and ride... I am not a big Gelena fan either... alot of first time group rides up there and people that get so drunk they drop their bikes... last year we where at hogs and kisses and a drunk fell over with his VTX on my buddies rocket... he tried to take off right into the side of a car... i know this is just one case but it is NUTS down there at night... with all the people walking the streets at night i come out to busness cards all over my bike... drives me nuts! Let me know when you guys want to get together we ride with a good size group of about 15-20 bikes all with many years of riding together as a group... we ride safe... and at times fast... but i like to cruise so the the guys that go fast like to go fast and then wait and we catch up... good group some funny people!
