will not start
ok everyone i spent this winter rebuilding my dyna superglide from powdercoating the frame to a custum paint job along with adding alot of chrome. now it's time to ride and i've got it almost completely back together. when i try to start the bike the engine turns over once and then i here a clicking noise if i try again to start it it goes to the clicking from the start. if i wait awhile the engine will turn over once and then it will start clicking. i've put a brand new battery on it. any suggestions where to go from here. thanks phil

yes i charged the battery last night i bought a new one fill with acid and charged it at 2 amps for 5 hours. i then put it on the bike and it does the same thing as the old battery
check the following:
perform voltage drop test between battery and relay terminal on solenoid - should be less than 1.0v drop
check connection between starter and battery
check solenoid contacts
try to jump starter with another battery if able
(if starter turns when jumped - probably cause solenoid)
if no turn - probable cause starter
test for 12v voltage to start relay when start switch pressed
if 12v present - open/poor connection between start relay and solenoid
if 12v not present, start relay may be bad
This from troubleshooting tree in elec. diag. manual. Sorry can't do it more logically. If you need the exact copy of tree, pm me your email address, and I'll scan and send to you. Can't send pdf via the forum.

update on my condition i went back through all connections battery starter ground made sure all were clean and tight. tried to start again while doing so i noticed the head light went dim and then smoke started coming from behind the head light i took off the headlight and there is a wire running from the bolt that goes to my risers and screws into my triple trees. i took this wire off went bought new eyelets and made a new wire put it back on and it began smoking while trying to start the bike. hopefully someone out there can help.
