If you are looking for answers on the forum, do you use the "Search" feature or do you write a new post?
Be honest.
DISCLAIMER: If I offended anyone (for not searching)and you are considering leaving because of it, I'm sorry, I did not search for a previous poll like this.
WhenI was a newbie, I didn't even know the search engine existed, nor did I know how to use it once I saw it mentioned. (I probably still don't use it to it's potential)
But now, I use the search engine most of the time. But, having said that, I don't always get the answer I'm looking for using it, then I write a post.
I use the search feature. You can't believe the wealth of information on this forum that is buried out there. I have learned more about my Harley here than I would have by taking a mechanics course. Between this forum and my service manual I will only have to take my bike in for tire changes because I don't want to buy a tire machine. Unbelieveable! The amount of time, aggravation and money I have saved using internet forums to now repair all of my vehicles.
In the past I would drop my vehicles at a shop and be at their mercy. Since joining this forum I now wrench on my Harley plus all 3 of my family cages. I am now able to do major service like complete brake replacements, tune ups, oil service, transmission service, diff service and the list goes on. I now save at least $2000/year in DIY repairs. As for this forum...the search function will usually answer about 50% of your questions.
I didn't vote because I do both. Sometimes i use the search here and sometimes I use google search. I think, once you've been here a while, you kind of know if something has been covered or not and have a better idea of how to search for it. I'm not afraid to post something again though. I assume if you don't want to see it or don't want to answer it again, you will ignore it and not let it ruin your day. If you want to flame me for it, go right ahead - wouldn't be the first time .
