Lowering my 07 Superglide 1" in the front (Progressive fork springs) and 1" in the rear (Progressive 418 11.5" shocks).
Need advice on the kick stand.
Will aNight Trainstand work on my Dyna? Or should I get a Dyna FXDL stand which is only about 1/2" shorter.
The Night Train stand is 1" shorter but I don't know if it will fit.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
I lowered the rear with 11" Progressives. Nothing done to front (yet, still deciding), no problems on the kickstand. It's a smidge more vertical, but no problem at all.
I've had quite a few people say that the 1" lowering will cause the bike to sitmore verticaland that that wouldn't be a problem. Only problem will be that you would have to lean the bike a little more to the right to get the stand down. I don't see a problem with that.
I'll just lower it and see what happens. I'll let you all know.
Thanks for the responses!
I think you'll want to get the FXDL stand - it will make you feel a lot better.
I might be wrong - but I think the Saint Bob and FXDL already share the same jiffy stand and rear shocks, so StBob guys are only lowering their shocks by 0.5" when they change to 11.0" shocks?
If you were leaving the front as stock, I wouldn't expect you would need to change - but lowering both ends is going to make it stand up pretty straight.
glide05, I just got off the phone with my local Dealer Service Dept.
One of the mechanicstheretold me lowering the bike front and rear would make the stand a little dangerous to use. He said the bike could conceivably tip overunder the right circumstances, (he's seen it happen). He says that I should order an FXDL stand and put it on at time of lowering. Now .......I know the guy pretty well and he wouldn't lie to me about this, he's got nothing to gain from it because I will be doing all the work myself.
He also says I am doing the right thing by lowering both front and rear.
So I ordered an FXDL stand and it should be in by this weekend.
I'll let you know how it turns out.
Maybe if you had a few beers! Just lowered my bike and yes, there is a difference but unless you are 4'11" and don't pay attention to what you are doing you should be fine.
