Newbie lessons learned...
Hello fellow newbies,
At the end 2006, I sold my Aprilia sport-tourer and bought an 07 Street Bob. There were many things I enjoyed right off the bat. But a few months went by and lttle things were nawing at me. I guess I was experiencing post-purchase regret.I was more accustomed to my old bike than I thought ...and I was unaware that there were easy fixes to my "nawing" issues. Here are 4 items I experienced (all are mentioned in this forum frequently)
First issue, I was bottoming out when coming up my driveway or going over speed bumps.
Easy Fix, It turns out you can easily adjust your rear suspension with a $10 tool. Simply use the tool to twist to a firmer setting.
Second issue, Headlight was dim. I couldn't see much of the road.
Easy Fix, replace factory bulb with Sylvania's HID bulb from Advanced Auto.
Third issue, I always thought forward controls looked soooo comfortable... that is until I got them and drove for a few hours on the highway. My feet were being blow off at speeds of 70 MPH.
Easy Fix, add heel rests / stir-ups
Forth Issue, Numb butt after 100 miles.
Easy Fix, toss the stock seat and buy a Mustang, Corbin, etc.
Harley are beautiful motorcylces. But if your bike aint comfortable then it aint fun to ride. Here's to comfort! I love my bike more than ever.
