Which Dyna?
Choosing a Dyna? Here's my take from another thread ...
"I've owned Electra Glides, Wide Glides, and Low Riders, and after a long layoff from scoots I test rode most of the new stuff, and my brother's 05 FXDC. I do a lot of local riding, lots of bar-hopping,twice weekly runs of 3 hours round trip, and 60 miles round-trip each day to work and back home. The FXDC was the most nimble and best feeling when scoot'n around town or when buzzing though country roads, and with a good shock setup it was also very comfy with the wife for two-up trips to the beach or the mountains. So for me, it was a no brainer. I went with the FXDC, which looks a WHOLE lot better with the larger fork diameter now, btw, and then put hardside bags on it and got the largest TourMaster b!tch bag available. With the windshield and all the bags, I have a baby bagger that rides awesome two-up for longer trips and still gets prety decent mileage. Then on Friday nights I can take off the bags, the tour pack, and the windshield and go zipping around town or hitting the twistys. The FXDC is a relativelyinexpensive jack-of-all-trades that looks good doin' it's thang. No contest ... for me, anyway."
The SuperGlide is one of the most sporty, most comfy, most flexible, and most fairly priced scoot HD makes today. IMHO of course.

Good thing is to go test ride them. what is good for one,may not be for you.... I can tell you first hand, the bob is awesome, so are the others tho. Depends how deep your pockets are too.
I was in the same spot two years ago; I bought the SG and have regretted it. It seems that I've ended up changing just about everything and still not quite happy. I hate the speedo location and don't like the fact that you have to keep the key in the ignition. But, its a great bike, as others have said its a fantastic platform.
With used Dynas, is there a year line back beyond which I shouldn't purchase, due to a crucial feature that was upgraded? Like with Sportsters, they all became fuel-injection as of 2007, so I wouldn't buy any earlier than that because that's a design upgrade I'd have to have in a bike. Thanks for any tips on this.
I prefer the blend of blacked out and chrome that you see on the Street Bob and softail Night Train. I like the contrast...or something.[&:]
I would prefer a solo setup (I think)...I don't think the wife's gonna be too interested in going 2-up. If that changes, I'll probably just get another seat.
The SG...the price is right but I just find it uninteresting. Probably because for the Dynas it's the ultimate blank slate, that can be taken whichever direction I want. I don't like the speedo location either. As far as lhaving to eaving the key in the ignition, is that different for other Dyna models?

So many variables here it's hard to determine what you want...
- Do you want that blacked out- flat paint look or chrome- clear coat look?
-Don't discount the importance of chrome. I've never been a Superglide guy (too plain) ...IMHO...you'll appreciate spending more initially and having the chrome if you're like most people.
-It'll cost you more to chrome out something that you could have gotten stock with an upgraded model
-Single or solo set up?
Good luck

I had the same issue in the beginning, but I ended up going with the Street Bob, best decision I've made!!!! It's an amazing bike, and given that its mini apes you can change the setting of it to suit your height and riding position, very comfortable, and I prefer the mid controls, i feel i have more control, and for the long highway runs, i just installed high-way pegs!!!!

You ned to find your budget, then find your style.. From there, you can look for a bike. I wouldnt let age factor into it. Any Dyna will serve you well.. MY thoughts lately are to buy what I can afford, with cash, or at least for me to live at a comfortable level to where my conversations dont all begin with how bad gas prices are killing me... Use it for a while then upgrade if I fee like it. This goes for everything, not just a bike..

Boy, thats an open ended question.. You could draw the line anywhere..Mine is a '94, and wouldnt trade it for a, '08.. It depends on what you want. The newer ones are EFI, but, is that worth the money? Not a significant amount of other stuff has changed for me to plop that extra $10k down. I'm an Evo guy, would like EFI, but....

Afew design changes someone else chime in and help.
ok here goes
05 narrow glide front end EFI and carburated.
06 all EFI, mid glide front end changed head light mount and indicator lights
also from 06 on the frame is a little different then earlier and six speed tranny.
also 88ci to 96ci motor and some redesign internally and a auto chain tensioner
these are just a few.
my 2centsany dyna will doand build from there. (tried too list my preferences
in order and all had good points and no negatives)
Try listing your thoughts and plans on paperThen spend some time at the dealerships
see which base is right with cost. oh as mid july gets closer you could get a better deal
(That is the unvailing of the 09's)
Hope I helped
