The rear sprocket on the 08 Dyna has 66 teeth, except the Japanese delivered bikes which have 64. I would then presume that the Japanese drive belt would be two teeth shorter. The standard front sprocket has 32 teeth. If you reduce it to 30, then the Japanese drive belt should be the correct one to install. This combination should give you the correct range of adjustment for belt tightening (and I don't mean due to the shrinking economy).

Is there a 70T rear pulley that could be used on an '07 so you didn't have to remove the inner primary and all that stuff to change out the transmission pulley.

Thanks Mudpuddle, I'm going to look into getting an '06 pulley. Do you know it the '07 belt is long enough to run the '06 rear pulley?

I'mgoing to look on Ebay for an '06, 70T pulley for a Dyna. Seems like the easiest way to improve the gear ratio without tearing into the primary.

How you going to change the belt without pulling the primary?

I am still confuse about this. I am in the process of installing a 6 speed direct drive Baker on my 2005 FXDX. Talk about an hour on the phone with Baker. They tell me used a 34 on the transmission and I will get a lower first gear, and a drop of close to 675 RPM drop at 80 MPH. I have tons of torque with the Big Jims motor I wanted a taller high gear in sixth. I am still confuse. The transmission is costing 2500 dollars Is that a normal price. They told me no need to change belts. I am still confuse?

That's the way I'd do it. If you measure the distance of 2 teeth on the belt and have at least that much distance for the axle to move forward, then you're good.
