Looking for either Easy Brackets or Ghost Brackets for my bike. Must fit an '06 Dyna set up with detachable backrest hardware. That's not asking too much is it???
I do not have any, but I just installed a set of barebacks by CycleVisions. It looks very simple and works great with no noise as others have mentioned with Easy Brackets or Ghost Brackets. I have had not expericence with either, but I really like them. Cost is about 140 shipped. Just a thought. One last thing, they do not lock.
I can't use BareBacks on my set-up, since I don't have brackets on the saddlebags. That's why I'm looking at the Ghost and Easy Brackets, since they come with the metal plate, and they lock.
One word of advice: Please be VERY careful when doing a search on Google for Barebacks. The crap that came up was terrible!!!
Just make sure to get the kit with longer bolts to put the ghost bracket bushings on out side of quick release bushings. I have qr sissy bar and ghost brackets on my 2002 fxdwg3. They stick out a bit but you can't have it all with qr bags and backrest.
I went with Ghost. Stay away if possible. Forget the "stick out" - think you will see that with all you listed. They just do not really know motorcycles as well as they claim. Parts for the 07 FXD will not work out of the box. You will need to purchase the detachable hardware kit to get the inside fender bracket - so you will have 2 female threaded holes (and those stupid ovbal washers that HD forgets to include in their turn signal relocation kit). And as for customer support, they are some arrogant people. They would not admit that their solution will not work out of the box for my bike. Their claim was they do thousands of Dynas at the bike shows and never heard of my situation and that Harley probably changed designs mid year... DOPES!
After the fact, I spoke with the dude over at Easy Bracket. Very cool guy and he knows motorcycles.
If I can wave a magic wand and start from the beginning, I would go with the Bareback system (http://www.cyclevisions.com/bag-mounting/barebacks). I spoke with someone there and they really understand Harleys.
To be fair, the guys at Ghost Bracket have since apologized and sent me the carry strap for my troubles (which I had to modify as well to make work).
Overall, I love the option of being able to remove my bags anytime in a matter of seconds and any option you go with will allow that.
