I have an 06 Bob and I wanted a nice shiny headlight so I bought a shell form an 07 Nighttrain off ebay assuming that they'd be the same or similar enough to just put my headlight into the chrome shell. Anyway I was very wrong, the shell is totally different and seems to be bigger than the Bob shell, not much but enough to stop it fitting.

Can anyone shed any light (sorry) on this? Are the two lights slightly different sizes or is there a way to make it fit?

 

Headlights come in a couple of different sizes, your original is probably 5 3/4" dia the new one a 7" dia.

 

If it doesn't fit you must quit...
What is it that does not fit?&nbsp\\; The light doesn't fit the shell, or the shell doesn't fit on the bike?
Is it bigger or smaller?

 

Ok, so they're both 5 3/4 lights and both shells are 6". However the Bob shell has a sort of retaining ring inside the edge of the shell but the chrome one doesn't, also the chrome one has a sort of rubber mounted bracket inside that gets in the way of the bob lamp unit. I don't know if there should be a retaining ring for the chrome shell or not.

 

Buy one of the many&nbsp\\;$99 ones from Eastern Performance...
