Here's a few examples of my "rattle can" work. The fork sliders are gloss black epoxy, fenders and turn signals are pick up truck bed liner.AC cover is a combination of the two.Thunderheader's been painted a time or two as well

Ed, you are the Rembrandt of the Rattlecan. It's interesting to learn that so much of your bike is sprayed, because I've always thought yours was one of the best looking bikes on here.

One of the nearby H-D dealerships has a semi-separate used parts store. That's where I saw a set of SE IIs. They were a bit scratched up, but I figured the magic of BBQ paint would take care of that. Anyway, the guy who mans the shop said that some pipes are year-specific and indicated the year on the ones he had weren't compatible with my bike.

Thanks for the compliment, I'm really working on not caring what it looks like but I'm not there yet.One of the fun things about having a flat black rat bike is expressing yourself with a spray can and not running off to the powder coater every time you want to change something. Some of the parts on my bike have been sprayed two or three different shades and types of paint.

I actually use my back fender as a luggage rack now.
A great solution to your luggage rack issue. I was curious to see what the diamond plate would look like (I think you said you might try that), but I think the bed liner is a better idea. Is bed liner paint always wrinkle or can it be smooth? I'd like to use it on some things, but only if I can get a smooth finish.

While you are working with the spray paint, why not paint the horn cover in black also. I did mine with textured paint.

I discovered pretty quickly that I didn't have anywhere near the tools I needed to bend a piece of diamond plate two different directions.I've seen bed liner in smooth and honestly I had no idea that what I was buying was textured. But in the long run I think the textured will wear better, and you won't have to sand it to repaint it.As an added benefit stuff bungeed to that non skid fender does not move at all when you're riding.
