Default lowering front end...

hey all,

i think i might need to lower the front end on my FXDBWG.... it's an 07 streetbob with an 07 wide glide front end, including the wide glide tubes at 34 inches

i installed a pair of prog 412s on them and the rear looks nice but i think the front end is up too high... and at 85 mph, i was getting a clear wobble...not a loss-of-control vibrations... but very clear turbulence

anyway, will lowering the front using the stock street bob tubes be safe?... i suspect so, and that this might help ...but just wondering about trail ...it'll drop it down 2 inches....plus, it'll probably look pretty good, too

p

If your sidestand worked with the stock suspension it'll be fine with the Street Bob tubes.I have Progressive 11" 412s with a stock Bob front end and my sidestand works fine.Another option is sliding the tubes up in the triples an inch and see how you like that.

jeez, i never even thought of that, Ed... i'll give that a try when i get home... i'm pulling apart the front end at the end of the season, anyway ....i'm having a pair of stock sliders and the trees powdercoated

but doing this will at least let me know how it will look and work with the stand

Is the 07 WG front end 41 mm? If so you can just get Progressive lowering springs or Ness lowered damper tubes. I doubt you'll need a shorter side stand but if you do Ness has those too.

no, they're 49mm... and since i still have the stock bob tubes, i figured i'd just throw those back on ...same progressive spring kit... would just need to cut the spacer down so it's flush with the top of the bob tubes

Dropping the fork tubes in the trees was my plan but I wasn't sure if it would be a good idea. Now that I see you guys are doing I guess it's cool. Hey JRK5892 did it change the handling of your ride?

nope... still tight and smooth... had it like this for 2 years no problem and I dropped the rear a ton!
you can see the front and rear both in this pic... no problem with handling at all
and cost me 0 to do the front
