Powder coat $$$ ?

There are many factors to consider with cost on spoke rims. Since they must be disassembled to coat you have that labor to take into account or are YOU taking them apart and relacing? Are you getting the spokes, hubs and rims done or just one or two of the list? Do you have stock 40 spoke rims? If you're getting the spokes done the cost will generally increase with more spokes.

hey powdercoater... not to hijack your thread, DavidD.... but i have a question for powdercoater
i was just quoted a price for 200.00 to have a round air cleaner, round horn, side license plate bracket, and upper and lower shock covers powdercoated gloss black.... does this sound over the top to you?
here's the thing... these guys are professional powdercoaters...been doing it for 13 years and they have quite a reputation, and their work speaks for itself... also, the parts are all chrome and he said they'd sandblast them ...i trust they will considering their reputation
your thoughts on the price quote?

DavidD Keep me posted (pm me) if you go ahead with this. I have been thinking about the same project. I was thinking of buying new (used) spokes 40 each, have them power coated and swap them one at a time myself. Not sure what I'm going to do, my 1999 stock spokes look like crap and money is tight right now.

need more info to tell you... and i am not sure if you know this... but alot of guys bring me wheels and just want me to coat them without pulling them apart... you can not do this. you need to do a full tear down and then re lace, including bearings... rmember when you are getting your quote you have a show ring to do as well.

How was the lacing job? Never done it, but it doesn't look like rocket science. I would think it would require time and patience.
How's it look?
Do anything different if you did it again?
