man just adjust it... takes no time... loosen the cable till it has all the slack in it (cable by the down tube), take off the derby cover, break the stay bolt loose... back off the set screw screw it in till it seats, back off a 1/4 turn tighten that sucker down with the set bolt... take the play out of the cable at the down tube cable adjustment so that there is enough play in the lever to fit a nickel in there... if you are worried about it... adjust it... takes no time

Is that jam nut behind the derby cover a reverse thread? Mine seems to be too tight to break loose.

It's standard thread on mine. You should be able to see the threads if you are not sure. Don't let the bike roll off the jiffy stand if you are cranking on it........

The dealer must have tightened it up too tight the last time. It looks like regular thread to me. Reckon it is safe to use an impact wrench on it? Thanks for the help.

next time if you cant turn it loose.just give the wrench a good blow generally all it takes to break it loose/if that dont work you can put bike i gear and have another hold the rear brake while you loosen the nut. yeah theres no need to trque that nut.I just give the wremch a good hit with hand once its seated.
