Fluid leaking out clutch cable adjuster? Help!!!
#32
My bike has been sitting in the driveway for a month and just today I found this thread and fixed the bike in 5 minutes with no tools....there was dirt and remains of some sort of bug in my tranny vent tube. I know this thread is years old, but I want to say THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU...bike isn't leaking any more and I get to ride it every day now!!
Don't worry bout being an old thread, if it helps pass it on... I had the exact problem and found this thread. Was a damn "stink" bug stuck in the vent tube... Thanks guys!

While you are checking the vent tube hose, go a little further and check the hose fitting that screws into the trans cover. Gently try to put something small through the fitting bore. If it is not wide open, remove, clean out debris and reinstall fitting. Dirtdobbers had packed not only my vent tube, but this fitting also.

I'll add another possibility to tranny fluid on the clutch cable for you. The fabric cover on my clutch cable was always had oil on it. I just figured it was persisting from the inevitable spillage from getting the oil filter off and was impossible to get it 100% clean. I figured I'd just take the fabric cover off entirely.
I disconnected the cable from the lever and cut the fabric sheath off. Turns out that the clutch cable had been rubbing on the underside of the frame forever and had worn a tiny hole in the cable sheathing. Never wore a hole in the fabric cover, just the cable sheathing underneath. The tranny fluid in the cable was weeping out and being carried down through the capillary action of the fabric cover. I would have never been able to see it if I hadn't cut off the fabric cover.

All, I'm checked and my vent line appears to be clear. I pushed a weedeater string into it out of frustration. but to be sure, if I tug hard enough on the vent line, I assume it just pops off, nothing but a solid pull right?
Once I have it removed, installing it back, is just a push back on?
If that is not the issues, I'll go replace the clutch cable O-ring. But what would push (pressure) fluid up into the clutch adjust on the frame.
