My 11" 412's set on the lowest setting, are slightly better than my rigid Flyrite with 2 inch seat springs.

Eleven inch HD's on the lightest setting will get you about as low as you can go. Pretty stiff ride but they seem to soften over time or maybe I've gotten used to it.

Good Luck

Tom

I have the cheap 412 11", I weigh 195, looks good, but will bottom out especially 2 up. I'll try the 412 heavy. You should seriously consider.

so what is the difference in between the 440's and the 412's (besides price), how do they compair. i'm going to be needing some HD shocks at i weight over 200 and if i ever put a seat and some pegs for a passenger i think they would be my best bet!

12" 440's HD on my HDX, the ride is good at #3 setting. I weigh 190 and have never bottomed out. They are a little stiff at first but I got use to it and was so pleased I dropped the front 1" with Progressive front springs. I've only riden about 400 miles in one day but the ride was not bad at all.

I have the 412's on the stiffest setting I weigh 160 and I have yet to bottom out. I think the 412 HD's are going to be very very stiff, probably rattle your teeth fillings out if you have any.

Anybody out there try the new 430's? And does the drop to 11" from the standard 12" have any bearing on the ride or performance of the bike?

You will like the 440's better. Just a better built shock with different internals that make them smoother.

440's also have a lifetime warranty.

Cant say anything bad about them !
Half my riding is Two Up, and even with two..... and a full load in the bags and rack... only Rarely have I bottomed out.
