Default Total Aggravation... Headlight Help

I attempted to change my headlight bulb today due to recommendations on this site.

I am embarrassed to tell you that I cannot get the f*****g thing back together.

I can't even find directions to get thr f*****g thing back together.

The bulb is in but... It's that clip that's giving me fits. I cannot get the bulb back in the housing. Do I install the clip first? last?

I cannot figure out how to get such a simple thing back together. For a fairly calm guy, I am f*****g twisted. I have not been able to ride all day.

I was counting on a 20 minute job. It's 2 hours now. 90 degrees, 100% humidity and I'm soaked in my garage.

Help is appreciated!

put in the bulb, then lower the clip, it will lock it in place. then add on the rubber gromit... done... bulb shoudl have cut outs on the metal ring on it, so it only fits in the headlight one way, then lock it down with the clips... sometimes getting it back into the bucket and the trim ring on is pain, take your time it will go... take a pic and post it and i can step by step it if you show me the back of the headlight

Thanks JR I got the clip off, guess I gotta reinstall on one screw and start again.

EDIT POST: OK! Had it done 2.5 minutes after your post! I just needed to understand the clip. That damn thing had me stumped!

Appreciated JR.

One problem though. In the process of being pissed off I touched the SilverStar. Good news is I bought 2. I'll be waiting for this one to blow... the next change should be easier.

Wow... the SilverStar is sweet. Also didn't hurt that the (filthy) inside of my headlight lens was cleaned.

LET THERE BE LIGHT!!!

How did you clean the inside of the lens? I also put in a Silverstar bulb about a month ago and it's a hell of a lot better than the stock one. I didn't try cleaning the inside of the lens.

Rubbing Alcohol will clean that bulb of your oil and save it!!! this happens, you just need to clean it, If you didn't turn it on yet!!!

+1 on that, especially the "If you didn't turn it on yet!!!" part.

The stock headlight bulb sucks. What Silverstar bulb do I need? I would like to change mine.

Sylvania SilverStar H4ST.

Clean the inside of the lens with Windex, a rag and a pencil to move the rag around.
