Man just want everyone to know if your thinking about a big bore kit, DO IT ! Just finished mine and the difference is amazing. Goin in tuesday for tune /dyno. But man even with me takin it easy breakin it in the amount of torque is very noticeable. Was told should be around 110-115 tq & over 100 hp but will find out tomorrow for sure. Just put a few pictures in my album. Check em out and let me know what you think.
Hey red devil, what cams are you running? was your bike orignally a 88". I Just got my 103" juggs and pistons now I'm looking for cams. I might do some head work. Just valve and spring no port and polish. Did you do any head work to your's.
I'd like to see someone with the knowledge write a recipe page of sorts listing what parts need to be used to bore and stroke the 88, 95, and 96 inch engines... what combination of oem parts and aftermarket get you to what levels, etc. Shouldn't be something too involved... it'd be akin to writing about the chevy motor family and what cranks with what rods in what blocks make what displacements.
I'd like to breath some fire into my 88, but am not sure if I should look for a 96" wheel, and if that will even bolt into my cases without modifications, then use 95" cylinders/pistons, or if any of that is even feasible

I can tell you that a bore upgrade to an 88 gets you a 95 (98 is possible with jug replacement and case boring). to get an 88 to 103 you have to swap for a stroker crank. big bore on a 96 is 103 and can go 110 with a stroker crank. pistons, cams, and cranks are not interchangeable between the 88 and 96 inch motors.
There is a lot more information out there than this. Some of it I already know, but there is sooo much out there that you could consume yourself with it. Best thing to do is post what you want remembering that there is always a balance between performance and reliability and let some of the wrenches respond.
well, the 96 inch crank not fitting the 88 engine case tells me a lot of what I wondered. So the only way to go bigger is aftermarket, and from what I am saying that's at LEAST an $800 proposition, plus labor if needed.
So barring a helluva good deal somewhere, 95 might just be my limit.
Yeah, 95 is where I'm going. Have all the parts, just haven't wanted the downtime. I'm going to port the heads, so I'll have to wait for my mech. to come to my house to do that (we drink a lot of beer together).
Going 95" high compression with CVO253 cams. Other small changes that don't make much of a difference in performance, just need to replace the small parts because I have about 52k on my bike. I ride the **** out of my dirty *****.
