Default Dyna Dash Swap - Any major conflicts?

I have a FXDF, but prefer the lower profile look of the dash/console on the FXD. Other than the tanks themselves being different. Can anyone think of why this might not work? I photoshopped two pics to make one showing the look I am going after.

Again, I know I will have to fab/alter some components. I am looking for major issues... For instance, if the FXD console is to wide to fit between the "gas caps"... This might be a deal breaker.

If I can't make this work... My second choice is the CVO Fat Bob console.

Thanks in advance.

maybe not enough depth for the speedo to somehow be fabricated into the gas cap hole... also the tanks are different so the console will not match up to it...
get the SE console for sure.

I agreed with rounder - and then realized that I have most of the big parts sitting around so I did a quick mock up. I have a 2005 WG tank which is the same as a 2008 FXDF tank, and also a 2005 FXD dash which I THINK is the same as a 2008 FXD dash.

It actually appears to fit better than I thought - but the speedo depth is NOT going to make it. The dash contour is actually a pretty good fit. Also - the mount points are different

You will also not have anyplace to put the indicator lamps.

go with the CVO

Hey Glide05... Thanks for taking the time to mock one up. Which speedo did you use? What made me even think this was possible is from what I can tell, the speedo depth is shallower on the FXDF/FXDC/FXDWG models than on some of the other models.

I can make a bracket for the different mount points. As far as indicator lights, I have not give them a whole lot of thought yet. Maybe, I can add a couple LEDs to it.

Thanks for the input guys. On my way to price out a CVO console just in case.

I think you're gonna have a heart attack when they tell you the price of the CVO dash.
Seems that someone posted it here in the past.

You can buy a chrome panel to replace the leather - I think about $35. Might look better??

Anyway - the speedo I have is 67033-04B which I was told came off a 2007 Fat Boy. It is not very deep. If you need more detail or even pics - shoot me a PM and I'd be happy to take a few. I think there is a reason that the dash profile is higher on the bikes with the tank speedo. With the lower profile - there is just not any room under there.

It's not quite as low profile, but you might consider a Street Bob dash ... I think it's about $65, so not as much sticker shock as with CVO. It uses the narrower (4") FXD speedo ....

p.s. Joe, did you look on the HDForums classified section for 103 jugs and pistons? I thought I just saw a set over there for sale a couple days ago ....

Priest -
I've been down that path - the Street Bob dash will not fit on the FXDC/FXDF/FXDWG tank which are all the same. The St Bob dash will only fit on the FXDB/FXDL tank.
