Default New Ride

Hey folks,

I've been away for a while - new job, new location, etc. I now live on the wind-swept high plains of North Texas. Along with the move came the oppurtunity to get a new bike. I traded my trusty '06 FXDBI last week for an '09 FLTR. The Dyna had just South of 26K miles and had never been in for a repair! It should make someone in the Amarillo area very happy.

So I guess I'll be checking out the bagger threads from this point forward - just wanted to thank you for all the great info and conversation over the last two years. I'm sure I'll be checking in from time to time!

Regards,

Mark

Boogie, I have a 2003 electraglide and a superglide. As long as I can afford both I cant give up the dyna. Its just to fun to ride. Good luck with the FL.

Thanks to all for the kind words. If I ever get the chance, I'll own another Dyna - awesome bikes, without a doubt.

Out here, distance is measured in time, not miles - the Road Glide better fits my new riding habits. One thing I do miss is the throttle response of my FX; it takes a bit to motivate ~800#s of fully dressed HD!

Now if they would only get some decent premium gas around here - 90 octane is the best you can get. Oh well, I just stocked up on Lucas octane booster.

Being new to Texas, what gives with the meager octane ratings anyway? We could get 93 octane pretty much everywhere in Iowa...

Default At least...

..you went with a Road Glide. Hard to slight a fellow for going that route. You should love it.

Can't speak to the issue with 92/93 octane gas - I've lived in Texas my entire life and never heard of that ever being a problem anywhere. You might ask somebody who drives a 'Vette or something high-performance where they get theirs. I live in Denton county, and the stuff is everywhere.

And, yes, Amarillo is pretty much out there by itself. I guess Lubbock, Ok City and Albuquerque are your odds-on best bets for the Bright Lights! Lubbock is actually a pretty cool place, so if you are wondering about a run down there, go for it. And, it gets pretty cold up there, too man. Nothing much between The Panhandle and Canada except some grain silos and monster trucks, so the wind comes in pretty hard.

Regardless, welcome to Texas, man! Glad to have you here. Enjoy Amarillo. Don't hesitate to ping your fellow Texans here on the forum for anything.

And enjoy that new Glide!
Ride safe.
