I love and enjoy riding my Streetbob and wouldn't trade it, but I don't believe there is a bad choice. Which ever Dyna will meet your needs/wants/ riding style is the one I would get. I think the FXDC generally,is the best bang for the buck.

Gilmour, I saw the pics of your bike and I'm surprised you're none the worse for wear. Damn you got clocked.
If youre looking for something similar to the look and feel of your sporty, the Custom or Low would be your best bet. If you want to get your arms up, then the SB. If you want it all, the WG
I guess the questions you have to ask are whether you want black or silver, mids or forwards, spokes or cast, and high or low bars.
Answer those questions and that will tell you which is best for you.
I asked those questions and you can see what I got. The only difference is I wanted a sporty speedo too.
Remember, you wont get the same fuel economy with a BT. But if you factor that, I'll wring your neck.

Get a Custom or a Low Rider. You can't go wrong with either model. Adding anything to a Bob will put you in the same price range.

Default Low Rider

I had a '96 Sporty 1200C and went to a 2003 Low Rider. I love it!

Found a local ad for a used '06 Street Bob in Denim Black, 1300 miles. The owner just had a child and decided to sell. The bike was dropped by his wife and suffered some damage - he said he replaced the tank and there are a couple of small scrapes on the pipes, etc. He's gonna email me some pictures. Otherwise it's all stock. I asked if he could check with the dealership and see if the 1K maintenance was included when he bought the bike since it hasn't been done yet.

He said with the new family and work he simply doesn't have a lot of time to ride. He had been using the bike to commute to work and take the occasional weekend ride. He is asking for $9500. I will have about $3500 after my settlement and the ability to finance the bike at 5.49% for the length of the loan thru my credit union. Maybe I can work a deal with the cash to lower the price a bit.

I expect that I'll be riding solo most of the time anyway since my wife and daughter aren't very enthusiastic after my accident. Anyway, I would probably add a QD luggage rack to strap a bag to and eventually a passenger pillion and QD backrest.

To sum it all up, I can end up with an '06 Street Bob which is virtually brand new at a better interest rate and lower loan payment than I had on my '05 XL1200C. What do you think of this deal???

Sounds like a decent price, but for me, I'm not buying a Harley that's been dropped. That's just me though. Other bikes, like a dirt bike or a V-Strom or something like that, I wouldn't mind a drop or two, but for a HD, I want it to be as clean as possible. I'd rather buy a Super Glide for that price that hasn't been dropped. I got my 2005 Super Glide Custom with some extras and 5500 miles for $9000. Of course, I don't know what engine and tranny that SB has; mine has the 88" FI, 5 speed, which I'm completely happy with.

Either way a Dyna is a great bike. Any of 'em. I had a hell of a time deciding on which one I wanted, but in the end, the Super Glide was the most bike for the money IMO.

Good luck!

Called about a second bike - It's also an '06 Street Bob with some Sampson Big Guns, a Stage One A/C and race tuner and a dyno tune. He also installed forward controls and a laydown license plate. Bike has about 2200 miles and has had the 1k maintenance performed. I'm gonna stop to look at it tomorrow night. He's looking for $10900 vs the other bike at $9500. The $9500 bike was laid down and the tank was replaced. It is also stock with no upgraded exhaust, no stage one and the 1k Maintenance hasn't been done. Sounds like the second is possibly the better deal...

All the dyna models are functionally the same - in the same year. With one small exception - the Wide Glide has a little more rake than the others. The differance from one model to the other is purely cosmetic.

The Superglide is the base model. It lacks a lot of the chrome and stuff the other models have. If you plan on doing your own thing as regards to chrome, seats, pegs, bars, etc, this is the best model to get. No sense buying all those doo-dads and them chnging them.

Conversly, the superglide custom is the perfect choice for someone who doesn't want to mess around with changes.

Pick the one that gives you a woody.

I just went from a Nighster to a Street Bob. I LOVE this bike. For me, for some reason it handles even better. I ride solo, so no problem. But as mentioned, you could put pegs and a 2-up seat on for not much $$. I love the stock look, but for trips, I am going to have to add a saddlebag bracket for my throwovers, and a detachable windshield for the best of both worlds.
