Default Thumb Shock

Here is an interesting issue. I usually ride without gloves and if my left thumb is within 1/4" from the left switch housing I receive a periodical shock to my thumb. Nothing that is a safety concern or a huge jolt or anything, just weird. I actually mentioned it to the dealer, they looked at it and found no problem.

Even weirder, my 2003 Sportster did the same thing, only a bit stronger shock.

Anyone else getting zapped?

You should not be getting any shocks at all. The insulation of the grips and the plastic housing would be keeping you from any contact from the metal handlebars.
Could be a nerve impulse that feels like a shock.

I guess that would make sense, especially since it happened on both bikes. But I have to admit, it is so much like a low amperage shock that it makes me look at my thumb at night to see if I see a spark. Maybe I eventually will, if so I will be sure to post that.

I'm getting ready to change bars because the stock buckhorn style bars put my thumbs to sleep. Even on my old bike... I've had that 'shock' several times. Comes from a irritated nerve, and then putting pressure on it (via handlebar) it sure feels like a shock, but it's the major nerve bundle running up into your palm at the base of the thumb, and the branch that then goes into your thumb.
