Default How much is too much!??

How much is too much to spend on a mod on your ride? And yes, I know the standard answer: Its your ride, spend what you can afford or want to spend. Where would YOU draw the line?

Reason I ask of course, is, I'm looking at doing the big-tire thing on the Street Bob. Not the wimpy-a$$ MoCo thing, the real deal, but it aint gonna be cheap. Gonna look bad-a$$ tho!!

How big??? You may drop the cash and then HATE the way it rides. You can fit a 200mm without too many mods. You can even buy a 5.5 rim and lace it to your stock hub. If you buy that crazy 240 or 300 kit, the mods will be way more serious.

I just put a 200 on my SB and its definitely cool and the biggest I would go...thats on my bike but a 200 on a Dyna is noticeable not to mention a LOT cheaper. I would never discourage anyone from doing their own thing but decide what your looking for overall...the tire is going to be just the beginning...especially with 240 or something of the sort. Best of luck...and to answer your question, too much is what you cant spend.

The most I spent in one shot was $4'000. PM wheels, calipers, rotors, and pulley. But I think it was worth it. There is a member here that did a big tire mod on a street bob. Think it was a 240? Somebody will chime in and know who I'm talking about. But I remember it was a big deal, not something thats gonna get done overnight. But good luck and look at it like I do, It's only money...You'll make more!

Too much is when others (family, dependents, creditors) end up having to do without to support your bike. As long as the pain is all on you, it all depends on how much you can take.

I draw the line on what I can pay for. If I can afford it and want to do it, then what the hell you only live once.

The most I have spent at one time was around 1k for my bar swap and adding chrome to controls and dash.

Ditto the sentiments above ....

Some guys will do something and they'll get a few forum members who post approving comments and then someone will (either intentionally or due to a poorly written post) rag on their bike ....

Good luck
