I have a 09 FXDF, and I want to install the HD Heavy Breather A/C. Do I need to do any type of download after I install the heavy breather( or install a fuel pak system), or is it good to go? I plan to change the pipes out down the road, but just want to do the A/C modification for the time being. This may be a elementry question, but I am new to all this.
I have the same bike and i was told at the Harley Dealer that i could put the Heavy Breather on with out any type of PC/Fuelpak/Download... The only time i would need that stuff was when i finally got the pipes.. So i got the heavy breather and and rode for about 1 month before i got the rest of the ****.. Had no problems.. No backfire... Only thing that changed was the throttle response.. everything else was great..
well there are two schools of thought here. on one side you should always have it mapped after anything that has do do with air flow. but if it just a stage I cleaner you shouldnt have anything to worry about. you will run a little lean. just pop off your plugs after a couple hundred miles and check them to see if you are running too lean.
people will say no... but you do... get some type of fuel mngt system... will make the new pipe swap so much easier...
if not it is like getting new running shoes and not having the laces in... they still work but not nearly as good if you lace it all up right!
Has anybody tried to run theres with the pipes and a/c setup, this has got me confused. When you change your plugs or wires in your truck or car do you go have it dynoed to maximize it?I am not saying it doesn't need done but where is the differance?I'm putting the setup on my bike next week and just wanting to find some answers, really though I'm broke and just trying to get the most bang for my buck.
