This is for an 09 FXDC.(06-09)same thing right.
My legs are short and need to get my heels on the ground. They barely miss and I'll have my ol'lady on the back most the time.
1st. Dose anyone know what size shock(12" for example)is on a stock FXDC.
2nd.Anyone know of an after market lowering shock thats less money then Harely's $235.
I found the same shock at JPcycles but they must have bought them from Harely because its more expensive.
1. Lowering blocks 1" or 1.75" lower. 79$ (www.tamarackmw.com)
2. Get a lower seat, LePera Bare Bones, 1" 149$
3. Get shocks ie. Progressive Suspension 412, 11" on Ebay around 175-200$
4. Front end lowering springs. 75-120$ (little more wrenching than the other three)
The stock shocks are 12.6 on the Super Glides. I just put some 12 inch shocks from a Street Bob on my SG. With the stock set-up I was the the same as you my heels didnt quite touch. With the 12 inch my feet are firmly on the ground. This lowered the bike a good inch or more. I picked the shocks up on ebay for $60 and they are like new.
At first I put a lepera seat on and with it I was flat footed but when I bought my C&C it raised me back up some.
I wouldnt go down to 11inch persoanlly without lowering the front also. You will most likely have some bottoming out with the 11inch especially riding 2 up.
i would check ebay...i got some progressive 412s last year for $160....i liked them but sold them after 3 months(for $150) and upgraded to 440s
a new seat is also a good way to lower...i had a bare bones but it was just as described "bare bones" if you have a boney *** like me...forget it..lots of seats out there that lower ride
best of luck
J
