Another Warranty Question
So I removed the console insert on my scoot. First thing that i noticed was a big *** dent at the bottom of the tank, right at the seam. I take it to the stealer today and they tell me the Moco won't do anything about it. You can see it in this pic on the bottom of the seam. Am I SOL? I really don't want to shell out the coin for something that they should warranty. I dropped lots of coin at this place.

I think you are faced with trying to convince the dealer and Harley Davidson that this dent was there when you got the bike six months ago, as compared to something you need to discuss with your insurance company.
You may need to follow Harley's customer complaint escalation process.

Tell them that you THOUGHT this was normal when you bought the bike but after you bought the bike you started looking at other Dyna's on the road and you realized that this is NOT NORMAL and you want it replaced. Contact MOCO directly if you don't get the right answer from your Stealer!

Just don't remove the panel......
I wouldn't even bother getting worked up about it, if you can't see it and it isn't causing harm to the motorcycle, and if you have had it for over six months, really...what would you expect them to think?

You would have a difficult time getting this covered under the manufacturers warranty in the automotive world. It would be discovered during assembly or the dealer PDI. Harley dealers/MoCo will make the same assumption. Your only hope would be a "goodwill adjustment" from the MoCo. Good luck! Be persistant.

Not to many cars/trucks out there with a big trim piece covering up a dent that you would not notice at the time of purchase, too much flat sheet metal and BS on the PDI, the dealer is not going to throw the MoCo under the bus and as as far as warranty, even the tech can't write up an issue unless the customer complains about it. One reason I can't stand working for a dealer, they screw the customer left and right and as tech you can't do anything for the customer if you wanted to. fatmanny, just press the issue and they will fix it if they want your business, go straight to the owner and like others have said, complain to H-D as well!

What you mention was not my experience in the 20+ years I spent in automotive service management. Sorry your experience was/is different.
Dealers like you mention don't stay in business very long. Customer service and knowing that your vehicle will be properly maintained by your dealer and you'll be treated fairly, is the only way to build return business in todays environment.
