ok.....I've read the forums and checked out the 09 GMA catalog, but still can't nail down exactly what I need part number wise. I'm looking to take the speedometer from my 05 FXD and instead of it being above the handlebars, putting it below. Since I purchased the bike used, I'm assuming that the handlebars are stock. Is this a relatively easy job to do? Thanks for your help and direction,
Can you post a picture of your bike? you could buy a sportster custom riser setup and do it that way. Probably going to want to switch the bars. If you go to a t-bar or tall risers and drags, you can get a mount that will fit (last saint has one on his bike now). you will have to relocate the idiot lights or remove them completely.
The stock set-up for your 05 is basically the same as my 08 was. It had a little different style clamp but looks relatively the same. So if it doesnt look similiar then its not the stock set-up.
Pic (sorry best I had)
If the bike has taller risers or T-Bars you can go with a Accutronic mount. A forum member just also had a mount made that looks real good that moved the speedo underneath. I will see if I can find the thread.
Sorry....didn't think about the pics. I ran out and snapped a couple. So, am I to assume that you have to get new bars as well to make this work? I would think there should be some kind of mount that you can take what you have and give it a 180 turn, shorten it up so it doesn't hit the tank and there ya go. Probably wishful thinking.

Ya most options will require you to use new bars.
You can get a riser speedo mount from a Sportster Custom and use it. You could then still use your current bars and should be able to get by with the stock cables.
