Looking at aftermarket parts for my 08 Fat Bob and trying to figure out what is the difference between exhaust baffles. I am looking at the Rush Slip on 2.0 and see they also have 2.25 and 1.75. Is the smaller the baffle the louder it sounds. I currently have the screaming eagle slip on but looking for just a little better sound. Also what is the difference between the power commander and thundermax is one better then the other. From my readings I like the thundermax better. As I am deployed to Iraq right now its hard to get good advise and research on the products. Any and all help would be great.
If I understand correctly the larger the baffle size the louder the bike, I know this sounds backwards but that is how I understand it to be. I am sure others here will chime in. When ya get back send me a PM I might be interested in the SE's. Be Safe over there. Thanks for what you do for this country.
I originally had the Rush 1.75 baffles, then replaced them with the 2" baffles which were louder and deeper toned.
If you are only doing the exhaust and not a high flow air cleaner, you don't need a tuner or download from the dealer - your stock air cleaner will limit the air flow through the engine.
If you do decide to go full Stage 1 you will need a tuner. Opinions on which is better are a major topic on the forum.
Auto tuners are expensive, but generally considered the better way to go because you will not need to pay for a dyno tune to get the bike running it's best.
Ugggg I can't remember if they put the stage 1 on it or not but I don't believe so. It does have the force air filter that I am thinking about changing to a hypercharger but one thing at a time. So much to look at so many ideas. I just want to ride ride ride...i miss my bike
I am 100% sure the larger the baffle the louder it is. Baffle size is the diameter of the opening. Its like the old days when people used to remove baffles to make their bikes louder. Also think of a car that has lost its muffler ( ie Baffle ) its loud as hell. I have the Rush 2.0 baffles on my Fat Bob and they are loud enough. As far as tuning goes the Thunder Max and Powercommander V are good tuners. Once you get your bike tuned the thing just sits there. Alot of dealers have Dyno's that link with the Powercommander and you can get a custom map to your bike , but it will cost ya a few bucks

You have an aftermarket air system so you have stage1. The 2.0 baffles tend to be favored by most for sound quality. I agree. Do not change that beautiful intake system for a hypercharger!
