I actually just implinemted a real sweet fix to the holes in the battery cover issue. I plugged the holes with a set of rubber fender plugs that I got from my local dealer. Under $3, and looks perfect.

In case anyone is interested, part is:
.
Plug, Fender
Part # 10228

Takes a bit of twisting to get it in all the way since the plugs are a bit bigger than the holes, but if you armour all the part that goes in the hole, it will just twist in with minimal effort..

[side note: i see you took your battery band off, but you still have the holes. i just put some cheap stainless steel bolts through the open holes on mine. looks much better.] was posted by OdiusBarbarian.

Thanks, plus, you just can't beat the price! Next I am looking for something to plug that ugly hole at the back of the front fender. I believe that the lower fairing plug from my CBR will fit perfectly in that hole (on the phone with the Honda dealer to see if they can get me one)...
