I need to tighten up my front end! On some bumps my bikes front end bottoms out, Got me a nice dice size square dent in the middle of my fender! The dice is a cover for my headlight mount bolt on the underside of the bottom tree! And yes it went down that far
The stealer said put SE fork oil in the tubes.... Did that!!.... made not a bit of difference!
It's surprising how fast the stock showa front will use up all it's travel, stock springs are too soft IMO. I fixed the front of mine with works performance triple rate spring kit(6 springs and collars you orient to lessen or increase spring duration i.e. softer or stiffer) or you could buy race tech springs sprung for your weight. I also switched to 10 W fork oil and installed the Ricor IAS valves. This made a huge difference(for the better) for me. It's a pretty easy swap, takes about an hour.
Naz- I didn't like how the stock shocks would dive under hard braking (plus they didn't handle to suit me), so I went with Progressive springs and heavier oil. It's better than it was, but if I had it to do over I think I might go with the stock springs and oil weight and try the Ricor valves first, then try aftermarket springs (different brand) if that didn't satisfy me. OTOH, if you're just worried about the bottoming and not so much the handling, the Progressives and heavier oil will help for not a lot of money.

Use the Search feature on this forum and search RICOR. Lots of posts with riders feedback after the install of the Intiminator that I do not need to try and address over again. We also have a insert that will prevent the fender damage in the future. Picture on our website showing the damaged fender that was on a 2009 Bagger with a very expensive paint job. Insert and our IAS valve did the trick with the stock springs.
you can also do 20W to stiffin it up... i am a bit amazed that you can be bottom out without dropping hte tubes into the trees... i was able to massage out my dents in my fender when this happened to me
