I am getting ready to later this week install Rinehart 2-> 2 staggared and an AN Big Sucker on my '06 lowrider I have the efi taken care of. Any tricks to smooth out the install or anything I should watch out for would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Take your time and I like to have lots of towels around when doing exhaust. Its easy to end up with marks on it somewhere so I cover any areas I can and keep some with in reach case I need it.
Im not sure if these exhaust need it but I always clean the pipes good with alochol before starting it.
Make sure you buy new flange gaskets from your local dealer. For whatever reason people seem to think you can get away with using the old ones, but you usually end up with a leak. Otherwise, go slow and do one pipe at a time.
Follow the instructions, take your time check your work as you go,then check again. Use a torque wrench if you have one to the correct specs, use threadlock as per instuctions. Its real easy for the average guy, but don,t let time or lack of make you rush, thats when we make our mistakes.
Best wishes.
Thanks for all the tips guys. Old towels or blankets, good idea. New pipes came w/ new gaskets, I have the service manual. I do need to go get some snap ring pliers. The inst. say I need some Hi-temp silicone sealer, but don't say what for. I am guessing it's for the O2 sensors?
Thanks and keep them coming, anything you think man I wish I though of that beforehand...
Oh and stbobber, I do have a sixer of Widmer Hef. and a six of Killians Irish Red cooling in the fridge waiting for the moment when she gets started up and I get that big *** smile!
I did get the Big Sucker in chrome, but thanks for posting the idea, someone reading might not have thought of that. Hopefully the big brown truck gets me the rest of my stuff today.
