I helped a buddy wrap his pipes and every time he stopped (after the bike warmed up) the wraps were smoking, pretty bad too. Is that normal when you first put them on?

 

yeah, its normal. a week or so ago there was a thread devoted to this subject, acording to some of the post the smell should make u hungry. lol

 

I thought that thread was about blowing smoke into the intake.

 

the one i read, the guys were talking about the smell of the pipewrap breaking in. i forgot what they said it smelled like but i remember they said it was making them hungry.

 

Is Pipe-Wrap made out of cannabis?

 

I wrapped mine a little while back... Got almost 500 miles on them and still smoke a little after longer trips...

 

don't worry it'll go away.......after awhile!

 

Yeah. They seem to smoke for different lengths of time from person to person....mine did for about 2 hours worth of riding, and smelled a little weird for a good bit after. But then it was fine.

 

Think they said it smelled like donuts. Mmm, Donuts lol

 

yeah it smelled like french fries or pizza or something like that, definitely something that would make you hungry so I agree with that. I thought it was a normal issue for breaking in the wrap, but in all the pipe wrap threads I guess I missed the one about it smoking. And just wanted to check. Plan on doing a couple - four hours of riding tomorrow so will see if it still smmmokin' after that.
