Default seat question,.....

I have been looking at buying the matching pillion seat for my 06 FXDI when it comes in, but I have read on here how its kinda flimsy and can scar up the rear fender pretty badly. I have a rear fender rack and will be riding solo 95% of the time. So,... My question is this: Is there a seat,... either a pillion or a complete two up seat that I can add that wont damage the paint on my rear fender? While my wife wont be riding much I do want a larger rear seating area so she will be comfortable, because there is nobody who wants an unhappy and uncomfortable wife literally on their back while on a ride.....LOL

Thanks,
John

I've been looking at the Sundowner Deep bucket one piece seat. Any comments on this seat? Also,... Will a one piece seat be less likey to scratch up the fender that just the pillion? Or its there some product that can prevent this?

Hello all ...

This is my first post ..... got my '06 Super Glide a month ago. I've actually been wondering about this same thing as far as two-up seating - but with no fender damage. Quite frankly, I really dislike the look of two-ups, but the GF is on my case for a place to ride.
(LOL .... really wish she'd buy her own bike and leave mine alone!!)

Anyway, does anyone have any experiance with http://www.corbin.com/harley/dyna/hdfxd6flip.shtml ? When I sit and price the parts for a kit to convert the Corbin Rumble doesnt seem so pricey after all.

Any thoughts on this option?

Thanks in advance ...

You might want to contact the folks at Mustang, mustangseats.com and check out their selection for your bikes. They make several nice looking solo seats that have matching pillons that can be installed in a few minutes if you don't like the look of a permanent 2-up seat. I have a Mustang Vintage Solo on my 2004 Superglide that I alternate with a custom solo, and it's been very comfortable on long trips. The matching pillon is next on my list if my wife or daughter ever express an interest in riding. The stock Superglide seat is just too uncomfortagle for more than an hour and just doesn't fit the look of the bike any more.

I have an 06 Street Bob, vivid black. I bought the sundowner 2 up seat for when the wife wants to ride, otherwize, I ride with just the solo seat. I have used the sundowner two or three times now and have noticed even with the HD rubber bumper kit attatched to the underside of the seat, it still rubs and makes contact with my rear fender in other areas. I am going to apply a layer of black vinyl commonly used for striping on cars, boats, signs ect. and see if it protects the paint. It should do alright, and when I dont want it on, you can peel it right off. chris_FXDBI

I had the pillion but returned it ...too bigand bulky
I have the rally runner which is 8 inches wide for passenger
as opposed to the pillion or sundowner which was 12
I find more comfortable than the stock solo
i am adding the detachable saddles as well

I put a Sundowner Deep Bucket on my Low Rider for longer rides and really like it. The passenger is far more comfortable and it is great for the rider. I love the stock seat for the looks and it is fine for an hour or so, but the Sundowner rocks on longer rides...It's good to have a choice..

Ride safe
