Default Seat swap Question.

I am thinking about get a new solo seat, I ride mostly by myself. But, I also want to get a two up seat for when the misses and I take trips. The two seat I like are the Maverick from Lepera for the touring aspect and the Tripper Solo Seat from Mustang for my solo riding. I don't want the passenger pillion for the tripper, full two up and solo seats only.

Here is my question.......Would I have any issues switching between these seat quickly (within 5 minutes)?

Also, if any one has any experience with either of these seats, please feel free to give you opinion of them.

Blue,

Switching seats is a 5 minute job.
The hardest part is putting your hand under the rear fender to remove/or re-install the solo seat nut. The only issue that may arise is if you have large hands and a very low rear fender, ie: you lowered the heck out of your rear end.

Cheers,

Tom

Put the seat nut on a zip tie and feed the zip tie under the fender til it pops out the hole in the fender and pull the nut into place.

I have no experience with the Lepera, but the Mustang Tripper Solo did not fit my '08 Fat Bob. Mustang claims that seat is a match for all '06-'12 dynas, but in my opinion, it's not intended for wider rear fenders like the Fat Bob or '10+ Wide Glide, maybe others. I spent quite a bit of time photographing the seat on my bike and emailing Mustang. I really wanted that seat to work out. I found their customer support to be excellent. The quality of the seat was excellent. My issue was that I purchased a seat that I was told would fit my ride, and it did not. Mustang customer support said they were going to forward all of the images and messages I sent to their engineering team for future product development.

Good luck.

I have the Sundowner solo and the Sundowner 2 up.
I just installed a second seat nut and use a quick release seat bolt.
It take about 1 minute to swap out the seats and the sissy bar.

I also installed a 2nd seat nut, the part number is 59768-97 and cost me less than 3 bucks at the dealer.

Riding with a solo seat and the rear nut in I could hear it vibrate, I had some small clear rubber band like things in my tool box, I wrapped one under the clip and problem solved.

Seat changing is now a 30 second job (Now to find quick detach sideplates for my backrest).

You all gave good advise and I fully appreciate it. However, I think I may have lost what I am looking for as an answer by asking to much or not being clear enough.

Anyways, I am planning on using a fender nut at both seat mount locations with quick detach screws or something similar.

But, my question is by switching between seats made by to different companies, will I have any issues?

I am not sure of one company has a specific way of mounting it's seat that might differ or interfere with swapping the seat out somewhat quickly.

Blue,

All seats mount to either of the same 2 spots on the rear fender using the same diameter screws and the same mounting nuts provided by HD. In other words they all use the universal HD seat screws.

There should be no problem at all. I have a mustang solo w/pillion, danny gray solo, lepera solo w/pillion and 2 stock seats, one Street Bob solo and one FXDC stock 2 up. They all mount the same way. I can take one off and have the other one on in a matter of minutes. The most time consuming part is adding/removing the solo seat mounting screw when switching to a two up seat and vice versa. 5 minutes tops.

Cheers,

Tom
