V&H Backfire
I have the same issue, but very minor popping with same setup. Occasional on high rpm decel and when shifting and not coming completely off the throttle. Upon calling V&H, they told me to change variable #23 by 1 number (I forget the number change but it was either from 16 to 15 or visa versa), but after changing it it did improve to my current situation (previously, was a bit worse). I was told that with short pipes (by other owners as well as V&H) are more prone to this and you can never completely eliminate the occasional popping. Does anyone have a 06+ Dyna Stage 1 with shortshots, screaming eagle high flow air cleaner, Fulel pack and V&H Quiet baffles and have absolutely NO pop at all?

I have the EXACT same setup and get little to no poping. Goto the Vance and Hines site they have the newest map for this setup. MAKE SURE the Fuelpak itself is the newer version. Shouldn't be doing that and DONT LET THEM RAPE you for labor because THEY are too stupid to figure this out!!!!
Creek, thanks for the insight. I followed up with the dealer and shared that nugget of info (Re codes on VH website) with them. Low and behold, bike should be ready for pick-up today, weather permitting and sucessful test ride.
They also said the labor for troubleshooting and remapping will be picked up by VH. I just pay the standard install. Will believe it when I am on the bike riding home happy.
Thanks guys,
Chuck

I think the older version does not have value 23 (or the one close to that) that helps with the popping....it makes that bike sound weird when off the throttle but it virtually eliminates the popping. Also, setting the throttle position is CRITICAL in this scenario. I have reset mine 3 times (value 19 I think) to get rid of popping. Finally, I am there but I do get an occasional backfire IMMEDIALY after I let off the throttle in between gears.
My old PCIII made my bike backfire MUCH MORE than the FP AND the bike ran kinda ****ty when it was cold with the PCIII....but it runs great when cold with the FP. Go figure.

I picked up the bike last night...I love it, it sounds really great, it looks tough and it is a huge improvement over the stock set-up. I spoke to the guys at the shop and they also said that with the short pipes a bit of backfiring was unavoidable.
Like others suggested above, I'm only getting backfire very rarely on hard decell. They did not give me the specific code that was modified, but they did tell me that V&H set them straight with an updated code?
Now that I think about it, the only strange thing is that they called V&H on Monday for the help, but they couldn't work on it until Tuesday. My guess is that if it was a code issue, it could've been resolved Monday... unless they ordered the wrong part or the one they got was NFG.
Either way, I don't really care because the bike is running much better than before I took it in. The only thing I'm concentrating on is how to get out of work early and get back on the thing.
Thanks to all for their thoughts.
