Default Custom Rotors

I would like to put some new rotors on my 04 LR to show more of the rims, any advice on where to look?

ebay, J&P, Jireh, etc. I was in the same boat. I even designed my own in autocad and was going to have a guy cnc laser cut them for me.

Bottom line is no matter what you do, the rotor is 11.5". It's going to cover a lot of wheel.

your other options are one of the pulley rotor combos for the back so only one side is covered, and a hub brake for the front. between the two you are looking at about $1500

If you want to go the custom cut rotor route, fabkevin.com will usually cut them for $200 each including the price of the blank rotor. you then polish them yourself if you want shiny.

If you go that route, I can help design them for you for free... here's the ones I designed for mine (and a picture of my pulley for reference, see wheels in sig pic)

For me, and for the price, I gave up and just picked up these for now... cost me less than $100 shipped for the pair:

Thanks for replying, what I'd really like is to have the braking surface just wide enough for the brake pads. Maybe you can help design something like that, I have the 6 spoked rims.

If you do that you are asking for trouble unless you use a solid disc and leave the mounting area relatively free from holes and other cut-outs. The non-contact areas of the rotor act as a heatsink. 100% contact on a floating rotor, or one with minimal metal in the center area where the rotor bolts to the wheel, and it's going to overheat and you are going to wind up with glazed pads, cracking at the holes, and warping.

Then what would be my best bet and be safe at the same time?

Forget about making your own rotors and buy something you like from a reputable company.

rotors always look better when they are not all the same color... have the center of the rotor (where the pads dont rub) powdercoated to the color of your choice... black makes the rotor bled a little better so it doesnt stick out like a sore thumb.
