Default Air intake insert?

Hope this makes sense. A buddy of mine is telling me he read that someone is making a "thing" for Harleys that goes into the intake, just behind the air filter. It's supposed to smooth the airflow and add about 3 hp. Sounds to me like that stupid tornado thing that the speed channel was advertising. Any know what it is, or tried it?

It looks like a stupid tornado thing - some fins, but they don't move. Supposed to imrpove airflow or something. I think I saw an ad for it in some bike rag.

boyesen power x-wing... not the stupid tornado thing. does not disrupt flow, directs it. It does work. Better throttle response on my carb(quite a bit actually) added 3 ft lbs torque and 2 hp to my dyno. I got it for the throttle response, the extra hp is nice too. Couple others have it on the forums, all reported an improvement. These guys have been around a long time. Really big in the 2 stroke world.

Read the article in this months American Iron Mag. Donnie Peterson has a discussion on these. Basically, they do offer some help on carburetor engines, but not on FI engines. Worth the read.

Heh, funny I had always thought of these things as snake oil.

Guess some of them really work.
