Default Tranny stuff

I have been readin' alot of the posts about the tranny recalls, and I asked my salesman all about them when I went back to the dealer. However he did mention it to me (some of the recalls) when I was looking at the bike but he had told me that if my bike was made after Oct '05 ( which mine was) then the tranny's were ok. I have not had any problem whatsoever whith mine (knock on wood), now having said that I am sure it will fall out on the next ride!! As far as the clunking when shifting into first gear after your bike sets, I have had luck with pulling the clutch lever in and out several times after I have first started it, getting some oil up into the friction plates. I suppose after sitting awhile the oil drains from the plates and they are to grabby at first. I dont know, it may be in my head, but it seems to take some of the clunk out for me anyway.

Harley trannies all clunk. No need to worry about your transmission as far as the recall goes if it was made after that date.

Mine was recalled and works just fine.

First call the MoCo customer service line and give them your vin number and they will tell you if you need the recall service. Second your oil may be too thick in the primary. Redline MTL has the same pour point as 5w30 oil but lubricates at a the same rate as a GL4 75w90 gear oil. It's a $8 investment to try it. find a dealer at www.redlineoil.com But I'd call the MoCo first....phone calls are really cheap. Good luck.

It was 13,600 motorcycles. I bought mine in September and they contacted me. Picked my Low Rider up and brought it back. It was considered a safety issue.

Call a dealer service dept. They can look up the vin and tell you.

Clunk is ok. If it starts chattering you got problems.
