We paid a bit over 20K for this FXDWDGI with custom paint. This MSRP is crap. I have seen my bike sell for much less, but then much more. You need to take into consideration the local dealer and their attitude toward a new bike for-which they will be responsible. You need to talk to the closest dealer anyhow, keep the feeling going... Let them know what you are doing. This OVER PRICING HAS GOT TO STOP. The factory doesn't care, it only effects local purchasers. These dealers are fucing HD but HD is on the gravy train and doesn't care - now. OR are they building in their longevity?
One way to see how much you're really paying is to ask for the invoice sheet of the bike you're looking at as well as the itemized listing of any dealer improvements. If they don't want to show you then they're trying to rip you off. If they say they can't, that's bull. At my local dealer they love to add a little chrome and then charge out the a$$ for it. That way they make you think they're cutting you a good deal. Being Harley the dealers don't have to cut deals like car dealerships do depending on what area you're in. Here in Houston I have a few choices of dealerships so I have a little more negotiating room. If there's only one in your area for a few hundred miles then you might not have any room to move. Either buy or don't. The problem with Harley is that there is someone ready to buy even if you're not.
FWIW, my recent purcase of a FXDCI (NON-Wide Glide Black Cherry) was after a far amount of "Shopping". When it was over, the local dealer (Palm Beach, FL) was close enough to buy it local from them.
The figures were:
2005 FXDCI
COLOR BLACK CHERRY
DATE 10/20/2004
BASE PRICE $15,490.00
INCLUDED: Security system
Wire wheel
DEALER PREP $595.00
SUB-TOTAL: $16,085.00
FL BATT FEE $1.50
FL TIRE FEE $2.00
FL SALES TAX $965.31
TOTAL CASH PRICE $17,053.81
TAG & DOC FEE $100.00
TOTAL OUT THE DOOR PRICE $17,053.81
When you add the Dyna Wide Glide Difference, how does that compare to your best price?
Was just wondering if you are in northeast Indiana? I live in Northwest
Ohio and there are at least 4 dealerships within a 50 mile radius of me.
The price you mentioned seems like it's what I have seen listed on the
dealer sites. Depending on what extras the bike may or may not have.
I sold my last bike in October and am looking now. Are you trying to
sell your Superglide or just set on a trade in?
blacklabdog:
i live in western indiana an ill be either trading my superglide in or selling it outright ,,
ill be heading to south texas to ride in warmer weather but ill be taking the goldwing with me an i plan on stopping by surdyke harley dealer in MO. an seeing what there prices are ..
marcoinpb:thanks for the info also ive printed it out also
Do you ride the wing or the dyna more?
I sold a Honda ST 1300 with just under
10,000 miles on it just was not comfortable
to me. Could only handle about 125 miles
before my neck went numb and I couldn't
turn my head.
blacklabdog:
i really enjoy them both ,the wing i have 48k an the dyna i have 28k,
the wing i use for long trips cause i pull a trailer an just easier to pack
ive been riding since 1963
