Help front fork seals

Default Help front fork seals

Hey , I need some advice. My front fork seals need replacing, but I can't get the chrome dust cover off. The manual jusy says remove cover. Any advice or tips would be greatly apprecieated....

ej, beat it off. but don't get too violent.

there's a notch there on the slider.

I use a brass drift and love taps.

you don't say what machine we are working with.

I ruined mine trying to get it off. It was absolutely fused on there, but yeah, tap at the notch is the trick.

I used a small piece of wood, no scratches or indentations

Yea, do not use a flat head screw driver....that will really booger it up. I used a brass punch (ON THE SECOND ONE).

+1 brass punch, you can also use a heat gun to warm it up... then it will move a bit more for you
