Bought a set of what I then thought were Screaming Eagle slip ons for my 06 Street Bob ( part # 80418-06 ). These are the ones that have the "Harley Davidson " script on them. Although they are louder than stock, the aren't what I thought they would be. I pulled the baffle out to measure to see if I could replace them with Thunder Monster baffles and found that my baffles are wrapped in fiberglass ( I think ). Before I spend another $129.00 , if I unwrap these baffles will the sound improve or will I cause some unforseen warranty violation?

 

Great question. Thinking about doing that too.

What about having to re-map the EFI? Would that be necessary?

I got the SEII's that say screaming eagle on the side, the SE air cleaner, The SE Race tuner and getting the 25 degree injectors. Then the bike will be re-mapped on the dyno. I dropped it off this morning. Got my fingers crossed. Call your dealer and see if they will exchange those for the SEII's

 

i belive you bought the hd slip ons not screaming eagle if they are screaming eagle the would say it on the pipe hd does sell slip ons too dont know why thou

 

Harley quit selling the SEII (Screaming Eagle 2) non street legal ("off road only, racing use only") exhaust. The Screaming eagle exhaust is now the Screaming eagle "street legal performance" exhaust. Still an SE exhaust, but not an SEII exhaust.

 

marincorpsmike, I bought the same slip ons, I took off all the fiberglass wrap and also drilled out the inside of the baffle. The bke runs great and is a little bit louder. Still not as loud as the wife's SEII's on her '05 though.

 

I just got my SEII slip-ons from Adventure HD. Say "Screamin Eagle" on muffler. Tapered torque mufflers. PN 80061-00. Not street legal.

Just received them 5 days ago. Installed them 3 days ago.

 

I would not modify the baffles ,my son is a calvary scout in the army and they had a saying while in Iraq

i had even bought the bct baffles which measure 11 1/4 inches and thats where i discovered my error
our baffles our like 17 1/2
so i went back to dealer and had to get the right thing se 2 s and also the cartridge
p/n 34400-06 for 8 degree injectors
even thou I had already had the download ,air cleaner .
but I wanted the sound and did not want to wait so so I ate cost
and like KB said on here before its paid training ...I think you may be able to find the se 2 still if you look
If I had to do Over again I would go with vance hines,big sucker a/c,and maybe a power commander 3
BUT i did manage to set off some car alarms at work today our spanish brick layers
were not happy with me but after 3 times you would think they would turn em off -phucum
you wont be happy til yea find the sound and power you want

 

Gentlemen, thanks for the info. Looks like my choices are to bite the bullit like stc13 or to "modify" what I got like ala harleyram. I'll report back!
