I'm thinking of painting the darker area of my FXDI Vivid Black stock mag wheels either a primed black or a glossy black just to be different... Anyone done it..?? If so got any pic's..?? I know powder coating would be the way to go... bet that would be big $$$$... What do ya think...??[sm=biker2.gif]

Can't go wrong with black. My powder coater runs black, white and yellow almost everyday so those colrs are pretty cheap. You might want to check around but I have always found powder to be cheaper than paint.

Yep, if you get in on a standard color run, it's pretty cheap. Local coaters here don't do any prep work though. Have to have it completely prepped and cleaned when you drop it off.

I was thinking of doing mine gloss black rims and hub while retaining the spokes chrome.
It's gonna cost my *** to have them broken down by the dealer then sent off for powdercoating then put back together..... I think I need a second job just for all my projects![:@]

powder coating is very cheap if you go black, your rims should be no more than 100 bucks

or you could go and buy the HD paint and do it your self. Just do a good job of taping the area that you dont want paint.

I used rattlecan red on my rims. With the primer, it cost a whole $6.00 plus the time to mask off the outer edge of the rim.

I'm going to try the HD paint or rattlecan approach and paint the non chrome areas...pococj do you have any pic's..? Can I paint them now and powdercoat them later if I want to..? I went on line to find powdercoaters in my area and it looks like they just do big jobs.... I guess I don't know if they do small jobs until I ask them...
