Yes, I would say that you would need it. It has the adhesive tape on it. The emblems clip and then screw onto the adapter. That is the best that I can do to explain, if needed I can try to take a pic.
triton.fisherz - Believe it or not, I'm not that crazy about them either, but they were given to me by an old biker buddy, long before most of the guys in this forum were even riding.
