Default Shift Light Recommendations

I've been thinking about rigging up a shift light, but don't really want to install a full tach. I can tell roughly what RPM I'm in when I'm cruising but I'm getting sick of hitting the Rev Limiter when really getting on it.

Anyway, I'm looking for something that is nice and simple looking (smallish, bright and not covered in logos). I really liked the light that Redrubicon has but I seem to remember he had some problem with the mount...

Any recommendations are welcome!

The Rev limiter on a bike is just like one on your car, basically it prevents you from going over a certain RPM and potentially causing damage to the motor.

If you want to know what it sounds like or feels like, ride 1st or second at WOT and you'll hit a point where the motor will stop pulling and start sounding like it's missing.

Hitting the Rev limiter is a quick way to lose a drag race.

Yeah, I was hoping that there would be some other recommendations out there too though...

I found this one that looks pretty clean, just not sure of the best way to mount it. But I'm sure I could rig something up.

I agree the ones that chad and Eric run are the cleanest i have seen yet! i want to add one as well to my dash lights... Mud had a pretty sick one as i recall on the mudsickle. SKYrider a while back explained how to make your own to me... but it was after one to many beers and i cna not recall for nothing! I know my buddies GSXR's all have shift lights... i was thinking of getting one of those dashes and tearing the guts out of it... we will see, i need the motor work first!

That one says it's only 4-8 cylinders but I might still be able to rig it up as i can't imagine what would keep me from hooking it in...

I've got a long list of engine work ahead of me, figure might as well go a head and pull the trigger on this now.

Mine is made by www.Raptorperformance.com I really like the shift light, works awesome. I can't remember off the top of my head who makes the bracket. Ghost Rider Customs sells them, here is a link. I will warn you though, Ghost Rider sells them, someone else makes them and they are not very good quality. The shift light hole in them is drilled crooked, the inside is rough like they used a dull bit and or the clamp wasnt tight when they drilled it. The handle bar hole is a nice precision hole, while the shift light hole is a definate after thought or its just a modified bracket. I was lucky enough to get two halves that were not a pair before chrome plating But after complaining and sending many pics back to them, I ended up with a replacement shift bracket (GR Customs paid for the replacement!) and when I got it I was all excited to check it out. Pulled it out and guess what, they didnt match each other either and the hole was crooked!! Maybe the new halves will match the old ones? NOPE!!

The quality sucks, but since nobody else sells one, I was stuck. What do you expect for a $20 shift light bracket that is being sold for $60?

The light is great, the bracket looks ok when mounted up, but $60 is way too much for their crappy after thought bracket.
