I am trying to gear my bike up so I can go to biketober fest this year and am having some issues. This all started because my mustang passenger seat wont fit with my throw over bags. The throw over part that goes over the fender is making the passenger seat not fit properly.
OK so I have a 2000 WG and I decided to go with the easy brackets. I am glad I called Dave over at Easy brackets before I ordered...come to find out the width from one fender strut to the other is too wide for easy brackets. Dave then tells me to call barebacks and I haven't heard too much about them so I was hoping some of you guys knows a little bit more on the subject then me.
I also have a bob tail luggage rack and a detachable backrest.
All I have to say about barebacks is if you google them, read the webpage description before clicking on the link......or else you might not like what you see!
I have the Barebacks on my 2004 Super Glide and am happy with them. Make sure you purchase the set for use with the detachable backrest. They're a little longer and space your saddlebags further away from the fender to allow use of the backrest. Saddlebags snap on and off quickly and I've had no issues with the Barebacks.
I also have a bob tail luggage rack and a detachable backrest.
Welcome to the Wide Glide... I set out on this quest as well, and I'm almost finished. As you know, the detachable sissy bar mounting posts use the front & rear mounting hole in the strut. My easy brackets use the front hole and one 9.25" back from the front hole.
The front hole has both (QD & easy bracket) mounting posts
The rear hole has just the QD post.
For the time being, I drilled a hole and bolted the easy bracket to the side plates of the QD sissy bar.
I'm waiting for Joe (JRK) to make me 2 spacers so I can bolt the easy bracket to the strut - out 15/16". When that is bolted on there, I'll finish notching the side plates to go around the spacers Joe will make. If Joe makes them...
To answer your question - nothing is going to be a direct bolt-on for both the bags & detachable sissy bar.
Make sure you purchase the set for use with the detachable backrest.
There isn't a set for the WG w/ detachable sissy bar.
The spacing is 12+" for the sissy bar docking posts.
I haven't seen bag supports with that wide of hardware.
I have ez brackets on my '03 with a luggage rack and a sissy bar (solid)....the ez's fit perfectly. I only had issues relocating the turn signals so I moved them to the license plate bracket.
Since time is of the essence the bungee the bag to the seat sounds like the most viable option right now. There is a JP Cycles in Daytona next door to Destination Daytona. I have ez brackets on my FXD (02) and had to relocate the turn signals to the license plate support bracket. I realize a WG has the different fender but I'm sure you won't have a fitment problem. From your pic the detachable backrest is for a solo seat and not a sissy bar, correct?
