I currently own a 2005 shadow 600 and am looking to step up to a street bob, just a couple questions
how much is the first service and general maintenance on these?
I have only been riding for a little over a year on a cruiser and in my early 20's I was a squid am I ready for this bike?
I rode a super glide on demo days last weekend and felt pretty good on it and it felt like a well put together bike is there much difference in the way the street bob rides compared to this, I know the handle bars are higher and it is lower but does it make a huge differance
The first service job will be if you want regular motor oil oor synthetic and the hourly rate. Say $275 to $325. You can do most oil changes yourself, just buy the service manual for the bike you buy. I'm a mechanic so I do alot of work on my bikes.
i had a 2004 shadow aero 750 that i rode for 1 1/2 years bought it in june of 04 and traded for the bob in august of 05. i'm 5'6" , 29 and and the bike is a perfect fit. the handle bar i pushed a littele forward and my arms are stait out in front of me.
I think you are ready grasshopper! loose the training wheels and ride! first service depends on the dealer. Mine was 300 but some include the first service for free when you get the bike. you'll have to ask your dealer. i know that the superglide, superglide custom and street bob are the same bike w/some dffernt asthetics. . When i bought the bob i was nervouse about the apes, thinking that i might loose some handleing, but i didn't even notice any difference. sit on them and see how comfortable youare and maybe dive them if you can. its all your comfort, and attitude.
Best I can remember the 1000 mile check up was about 275 plus extra for synthetic oil.I hear that some dealers will negotiate this in a part of the purchase price.
Street Bob is a great bike,I've put almost 4000 miles on mine in three and a half months. No problems except I'm constantly spending money personalizing the bike.Don't think that ever ends though.
Get the Bob, You'll love it. I did my 1000 mile service myself. The service manual covers everything, you will want one even if the dealer does the 1k service for you.
Before the Bob I had a Honda 750 Ace for about 1 1/2 years. Best choice I ever made was to upgrade to the Streetbob!! I have ridden it every chance I could get since purchasing it.
I came from a Honda CBR to a Low rider. There is no comparison!
Get a full face helmet so people can't see you riding down the road
with a big ole' stupid smile on your mug!
I think you would really like a Street Bob if you liked the Super Glide. As far as the 1000 service goes, I had mine and my wifes done at the same dealer and it was right around $100 for my Wide Glide and it was $85 for her 1200 Sportster Custom with synthetic oil in the tranny. A lot of dealers over charge for this as you can see in the other replies.
