i had my lower fork sliders powdercoated and when i was putting the dust cap on with the pvc pipe that everybody uses. the dampner came out of the tube and all the bushings and o rings came apart!!! i dont know if i didnt have the 12mm bolt in tight enough or what? can i just put it all back together or did i break something in there?

Can I ask how that all came apart?

When I swapped lowers, I had the forks assembled and used the pvc method. Nothing was loose.

Is it possible you tried to re-assemble prematurely?

Are you just trying to put the dust seal in without installing the tube?

all the bushings? there should be a damper, spring, washer, and spacers... on your fork seals did you put on the o-ring clip, sounds like everythign shot out the top... if so then yes your screw was not in tight enough

i have the manual. it doesnt really cover this i dont think i had everything together including the seals with clip but i didnt tourqe the 12mm nut down just hand tight i guess and when i was hitting it( maybe to hard ) the damper and the spring and washers fell into the slider. according to manual i think i should be able to just put everything back into the tubes right? i was just worried that i may have broke something and that it wasnt suppposd to come apart like that.

I agree with Lh....the manual, in reference to fork diassembly is useless as far as procedure goes. The most useful thing in it is the diagram...

Lh...I have a set of my oem lowers. I'd offer them up to you if they'd work for you. Just pay the shipping. Save you the cost of what the dealer will charge.
