With cast wheels, I have been soaking them with simple green to loosen the dirt and brushing them before hosing them off. But recently I had to go with a stronger cleaning agent (Meguiars) and a hard nylon bristle toothbrush because of my previous lack of maintenance (my laziness). If you let the wheels collect brake dust and moisture they will start pitting after awhile as mine have. I'm interested in hearing what others are doing myself.
I gave up trying to keep then looking decent. Lots of elbow grease and metal polish. I put on roadwinder wheels over the past winter. They clean up very easily.
i have spoke rims, and all i do is use one of them muti colored feather duster thingy's.the real long ones.i soap up my rims and run the feather duster in between each one of my spokes.very easy and works awesome.cleans up nice.now polishing them,is a whole diffrent ball game.no way around it but elbow grease.
I spray mine with the Armor-All wheel cleaner, let it sit a min or 2 and rinse off. I dont let mine get all that dirty tho. I usually wash mine about twice a month. And the Mr. Clean car wash sprayer thingy really works for spot free rinsing!!
Thanx all for the replies. I have mucked up big i think. i used turtle wax all wheel cleaner. It's gelly spray that seemed to clean really well. i left it on a little to long i think as it seems to have stained the rims now. so much for cleaning them. why would harley make such a dificult product to clean? I mean it's truly ubsurd the amount of time i would have to put into them if they were to be pristine. oh well maybe i'll just have them powdercoated black and forget about it. any suggestions?
